I launched a SharePoint-based intranet in 2018. The collection of sites is visited by more than 6,500 people every week.
Company Intranet

When Microsoft released SharePoint Modern Communication sites, I was convinced that it was finally the right solution for our intranet. By using our existing investment in the SharePoint platform, we could avoid $50k to license a separate proposed content management system. The next step was persuading our leadership team. I made several prototypes and held stakeholder review sessions. This led to approval from leadership to develop the intranet on SharePoint.
The site is made up of 7 Hub Sites (7 different subsidiaries) and over 150 service sites. Below you’ll see other site examples.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion site housed content about our Employee Resource Groups. Each group had a customized content relevant to their group including an event calendar, news, videos of past events and resources for members.
Microsoft 365 Learning Center
Microsoft provides a great Learning Pathways template to deploy to your tenant. It is a customizable, on-demand learning solution designed to increase usage and adoption of Microsoft 365 services in your organization.
I deployed the Learning Pathways site template, then customized it with our own content. Our Learning & Development teams used it to share during the onboarding of new employees to give them “bite sized” videos to learn M365 and custom applications.

Demo Communication Site

This site serves as a free resource to any site owner who is looking to take advantage of the features of SharePoint.
The site features a page for each available web part that includes a demo of the web part and the link to the Microsoft Support article that describes how to use it.
